Privacy

Seatproof has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking of any kind. You can read every page without an account, and nothing is stored about you when you do.

If you create an account

We store your email address, the display name you choose, and your password in a form that cannot be turned back into the password (argon2id). Your email address is used only to confirm it is yours, to reset your password, and to tell you what a moderator decided about something you sent. It is never shown to anyone.

Signing in sets one cookie, which keeps you signed in. There are no other cookies.

Reviews, corrections and reports

A review shows your display name and the month and year you flew, never the exact date. With each review, correction and report we also store the internet address (IP address) it came from, to stop abuse such as one person posting many reviews. IP addresses are never shown publicly and are kept as long as the review, correction or report is.

To limit abuse we also count recent attempts to sign in, sign up and post, by IP address and email address. Those counts are deleted once they are a day old. The one-time links we email you, to confirm your address or reset your password, are stored with the IP address that asked for them and deleted after thirty days.

Flight lookups

When you look up a flight, we store what we learned about the flight (its aircraft and route), not who asked. The lookup is made through AeroDataBox, which receives the flight number and date only.

Who else handles it

The site runs on Vercel, the database on Neon, and email is sent through Resend. Each processes data only to provide that service.

Deleting your data

You can delete your account from your account page. That deletes your account, your reviews and your reports straight away. Corrections a moderator has already accepted stay, because they are now part of the seat maps, but they are no longer linked to you.
